Beto (they/he) is a Lipan Apache/Xicano indigequeer herbalist, community organizer and traditional ecologist. Originally from the rural Gulf Coast, they connected with traditional herbalism of their ancestral lands of South Texas/México. They first learned plant identification as a youth interested in the wetland ecology of their home tow. over time this became a desire to better understand their identity, history and community through connections and defense of the land.

Their plant, food and herbal learning has spanned over 25 years of study including their role as Environmental Justice Coordinator at Southwest Workers Union, their certification at the 2018 Indigenous Sustainable Communities Design Course in Tesuque Pueblo, NM, presenting on indigenous food ways of the Rio Grande delta at the 2015 Native Food Symposium. They are also an organizing member of SanArte Healing & Cultura Clinic, danzante with Kalpulli Ameyaltonal  and currently working on their first book!  Beto's focus is to continue offering medicine and creating spaces for queer people to heal, organize and thrive.
